Woman with doctorResources for Promoting Victim-Centered Response

The Sexual Violence Justice Institute (SVJI) at the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA) works with experts to develop information and training about sexual violence and the criminal justice system.

In all we do we encourage individuals, teams and systems to keep victims/survivors, and their unique abilities and needs, at the center of all actions. Known as “victim-centered response,” this approach includes:

  • Considering the victim/survivor first
  • Ensuring victim safety
  • Listening generously to victims/survivors
  • Promoting victims/survivors’ ability to choose what’s best for them
  • Coordinating and collaborating in the victims’ interests

Our actions must also honor those who did not survive as we create a world free of sexual violence.

Read all seven simple rules for Becoming Victim-centered (PDF).

In the Justice Resources section you will find information and tools on many topics related to sexual violence and the criminal justice system.
