SANE Shadowing Program
The SANE Shadowing Program aims to grow the confidence and competence of SANE-trained nurses, particularly from greater Minnesota, by granting observation access to SANE exams performed by seasoned SANE nurses in the metro area. Nurses wanting to participate need to be SANE-trained and able to spend 1-2 nights in the Twin Cities. MNCASA has a limited amount of funding available to cover travel and lodging expenses for nurses participating in the SANE Shadowing Program. Because travel/lodging costs are limited, we recommend getting set up with the Shadowing Program as soon as possible. Once travel/lodging expenses have been spoken for, MNCASA will amend this posting and maintain a waiting list should additional funds become available.
Shadowing priority will be given to nurses from outside the Twin Cities Metro area.
Shadowing SANE nurses will not perform any procedures or provide any care for the patient during an exam—shadowers are limited to observing the exam.
Each nurse interested in shadowing will need to fill out a few forms prior to their shadowing experience. These forms are stored on MNCASA’s website, but you will need a password to access them. To obtain the password for these forms or to learn more about the SANE Shadowing Program, please contact Linda Walther, R.N., SANE-A/P and the Clinical Coordinator for MNCASA’s Statewide Medical Forensic Policy Program. Linda can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
